Coming Catastrophes

          The Bible tells us that in the end times there will be famines, earthquakes in diverse places and the sky will be darkened (Volcanic ash?). President Obama says that the science is settled about Global Climate Change and that man is causing it. President Obama says it is our number one enemy. There are those who will tell you that 97% of climate scientists agree that man is the cause. What they won't tell you is that the climate has been changing since the world began. No one, in their right mind, denies climate change, because it's history. Our planet has gone through global warming and ice ages since the beginning of time. The consensus of scientific opinion is that we "might" be able to affect the temperature by about one tenth of one percent over the next fifty years, if we act quickly. Biologists tell us that a slight increase in planetary temperature would be beneficial to plant life. Carbon dioxide, a "greenhouse gas" is essential to plant life, and plants generate oxygen. Climate change seems to be more of a political problem.

          Do we want to trust our government to tell us what to worry about, or should we trust the one who created the world we live on? If you are a Bible believer, you know that the Lord doesn't want us to worry, and that He will see us through all of this. There are serious problems we should know about and they are predicted in the scriptures. There are many really good scientists who are predicting things that will, in all probability, happen before very long; some of which they say are long overdue. These are all predicted in the Bible. You know, the guide book the Lord gave us to live by.

The New Madrid fault

"The New Madrid Seismic Zone (pronounced /nuː ˈmædrɪd/), sometimes called the New Madrid Fault Line, is a major seismic zone and a prolific source of intraplate earthquakes (earthquakes within a tectonic plate) in the southern and midwestern United States, stretching to the southwest from New Madrid, Missouri.

The New Madrid fault system was responsible for the 1811–12 New Madrid earthquakes and may have the potential to produce large earthquakes in the future. Since 1812, frequent smaller earthquakes have been recorded in the area.

Earthquakes that occur in the New Madrid Seismic Zone potentially threaten parts of seven American states: Illinois, Indiana, Missouri, Arkansas, Kentucky, Tennessee and Mississippi."[2] There are also those who say that this quake could split the country in two, from the Great Lakes to the Gulf of Mexico.

The Cascadia fault

A Mega Quake is predicted along the fault line running parallel to Rt.5 in the western United States, plus its ensuing tsunami . This is called a margin rupture quake. I have heard that this quake and its accompanying tsunami could kill as many as three hundred thousand people.

Yellowstone Supervolcano

"The Yellowstone Caldera is the volcanic caldera and supervolcano located in Yellowstone National Park in the United States, sometimes referred to as the Yellowstone Supervolcano. The caldera and most of the park are located in the northwest corner of Wyoming. The major features of the caldera measure about 34 by 45 miles (55 by 72 km).[5]

The caldera formed during the last of three supereruptions over the past 2.1 million years: the Huckleberry Ridge eruption 2.1 million years ago (which created the Island Park Caldera and the Huckleberry Ridge Tuff), the Mesa Falls eruption 1.3 million years ago (which created the Henry's Fork Caldera and the Mesa Falls Tuff) and the Lava Creek eruption 640,000 years ago (which created the Yellowstone Caldera and the Lava Creek Tuff)."[4]

Famine

"A famine is a widespread scarcity of food, caused by several factors including crop failure, population unbalance, or government policies. This phenomenon is usually accompanied or followed by regional malnutrition, starvation, epidemic, and increased mortality."[7] " During the 20th century, an estimated 70 million people died from famines across the world, of whom an estimated 30 million died during the famine of 1958–61 in China.[15] The other most notable famines of the century included the 1942–1945 disaster in Bengal, famines in China in 1928 and 1942, and a sequence of famines in the Soviet Union, including the Soviet famine of 1932-1933, caused by the policies of Stalin. A few of the great famines of the late 20th century were: the Biafran famine in the 1960s, the Khmer Rouge-caused famine in Cambodia in the 1970s, the North Korean famine of the 1990s and the Ethiopian famine of 1984–85."[8]

          Today, "At least 1 million malnourished children die every year because they lack access to the necessary treatment. 17 million children suffer from severe acute malnutrition, a deadly condition if not treated"[10]. Care says that famine is today's worst humanitarian crisis. "Today, famine is most widespread in Sub-Saharan Africa, but with exhaustion of food resources, overdrafting of groundwater, wars, internal struggles, and economic failure, famine continues to be a worldwide problem with hundreds of millions of people suffering."[11] "Despite repeated stated intentions by the world's leaders to end hunger and famine, famine remains a chronic threat in much of Africa and Asia. In January 2006, the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization warned that 11 million people in Somalia, Kenya, Djibouti and Ethiopia were in danger of starvation due to the combination of severe drought and military conflicts."[12]

          With real dangers hanging over our heads, why is our government not warning us about them, instead of creating a false concern over Global Climate Change? Christians and Jews should all know about these dangers, because our Pastor's and Rabbi's should be telling us about them. The teachers of the "People Of The Book" all have this information at their fingertips.
